How to be Single Film Review

I chose the the film "How To Be Single" because I just watched it last week and had some thoughts on it. The review I chose was "The Flick Filosopher (MarryAnn Johanso)" you can find this review at http://www.mrqe.com/external_review?review=365544520. I selected this film review because yeah they did make some pretty clear points on the movie but they didn't mention one good thing about the movie and it made me mad because they just thought about the negative things. I also looked at this persons reviews on other movies and they didn't seem to have anything good to say about a lot of movies.

I thought the movie was hilarious and a good movie for the single ladies to watch on Valentines day to have a good laugh and smile on Valentines day.  In this review they mention that there is no proper way to be single and this isn't a good movie to follow on how to be single. But like really do you think that people actually watch the movie for tips on how to be single? No. It was made for comedy to make people laugh. This review is sucking every bit of fun out of the movie. It's obviously unrealistic and if a person actually thought you should take these tips from a comedy movie then they are crazy.

I find most reviewers bring out the worst in movies. I think they do this because they are jealous or think their opinion is everything. There is many good things about "How to be Single" like I said the humour is good. Also it makes a good point on being single. You don't gotta be hung up on your ex or wanting to be in a relationship. The single life is just as good, sometimes even better and this movie shows that. This reviewer states that it was a crappy movie to put out on Valentines day but honestly I think it was a great idea because a lot more people would go see it.

Descriptive Writing

On an early February morning, my little brother Jaden and I went outside to play hockey on the outdoor rink. We step outside and see the fresh ice. I feel the cold breeze in the air, smell the crisp cool air and taste the fresh morning breeze. I hear the wind blowing and our skates tearing up the ice as we skate around. I came out here to teach my little brother how to play hockey. The sights, smells, sounds and tastes remind me of my first time on the ice.

My first time on the ice was scary yet exciting. I was excited to learn how to play the sport my family loves. I was a pretty good skater for my first time. I took a tumble a few times but everyone does on their first try. I remember shooting the puck for the very first time. I hit it my hardest and it just barely went in the net but when it did my Dad, my older brother Jansen and I jumped for joy, I had scored my first goal. It felt awesome and I was very proud of myself, and from that day on I knew I wanted to be a hockey player.

My little brother was a pretty wicked hockey player for his first time out there. He refused to wear skates for his first time because he was too scared. He got out there running along the ice just blasting shots. You wouldn’t have even known it was his first time on the ice he was so good. I ended up playing goalie and when he scored on me for the first time, the moment was amazing, he ran in to tell my parents and my family was so proud of him. He kept running around roaring “I’m going to be a hockey player!”

We stayed out on the ice pretty much all day, well at least until it got dark out. We were getting pretty exhausted. Mom came out to watch as my older brother Jansen, my dad, my little brother Jaden and I were ripping up the ice shooting pucks everywhere. We convinced mom to get out there and play too, honestly she wasn’t so good at hockey...she just liked to watch it. She was very slow and cautious because she was terrified to fall. But I will admit she did a pretty good job shooting.

It was a great day spent with family making some of the best memories. We got a great picture of my little brother and placed it in the photo book next to mine and Jansen’s pictures of our first time on the ice. I will cherish this memory forever because I was glad I got the opportunity to teach my little brother something our family loves.

Writing Reflection

I do not write during my spare time. Usually I spend my spare time watching netflix and going outdoors with my brother. My favourite writer is Nicholas Sparks because the only books I read are his. My favourite kind of writing is persuasive because I am good at convincing people to do things and in grade 9 I got a very good mark on my persuasive writing piece. Since I am good at persuading people persuasive writing comes easiest for me. I find writing essays very difficult. I get my ideas for writing from class discussions. I am currently working on a piece of writing in English class. It is a short story essay on the book To Kill A Mockingbird. A piece of writing I have written that I am proud of is a descriptive essay on my cousin Courtney. I wrote this story in grade 7 and got an A+ on it. Usually I only produce one draft copy for writing and edit it very well. I feel my strengths as a writer would be description, a few of my teachers have told me I describe things well and get right into strong detail. My biggest weakness as a writer would be sentence structure, I tend to have good ideas but I ramble on too much. If I had to choose my favourite subject to write about it would be sports related things such as hockey or soccer. My second favourite subject would be writing about my family. My goals as a writer for this semester is to become stronger in the sections of writing I am weak at such as sentence structure and to become a good writer so I can get good grades on writing pieces.
